Many CoP were developed for people who have common interest in healthcare, agriculture and environment, and teaching. However, there is lack of research which highlights the CoP needs particularly for academic research field. The aim of this study is to identify the needs of CoP for researchers in UAE. We adopted qualitative research approach to identify the needs and applied the grounded theory method to analyze the data. The results of the analysis showed seven main needs: collaboration, debating, awareness/ notification, reference management, cross search, customization, tracking, and user orientation. In addition, this research revealed some cultural issues related to UAE context.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12216/179||DOI:||https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84857611623&partnerID=40&md5=0205be0560cda5b7a27f695acd3be6bb|
